Random Picture Thursday-Cowboy Hayden

This picture was taken at my sister, Rachel's house. Sometime before Quinn was born.

Until recently, Hayden had a "morbid fascination" with horses. He liked them, but would freak out when one was near him. Or if one whinnied at him.

Rachel has two horses. Whenever we go to her house, her older horse, Sultan, whinnies at us as we get out of the car. Hayden used to FREAK out when Sultan did that. He loves playing outside at her house, but would refuse some days because he was so afraid of the horses.

But when we weren't at Rachel's house, he would talk nonstop about Rachel's horses! He even whined that he wanted to go see the horses, and RIDE on them!!

So one Saturday morning Hayden and I went on a Mommy and Hayden date to Rachel's house. Rachel had Sultan all saddled up and ready to go. Just as I thought, Hayden refused to ride the horse. He was OK with giving him grass and petting him but he would not get on his back.

So we went inside. Rachel wanted to ride and her hubby was getting ready for work. So I volunteered to watch her little boy (who was sleeping) and play with Hayden. Hayden wanted to play with Rachel's stuffed horses. So we got them out and he pretended to ride on their backs.

I had THE most difficult time getting a picture of him riding the stuffed horse. This one just happens to be named Sultan. At the time of the picture he'd decided that he didn't like having his picture taken. He would cover his face or stop doing what I was trying to capture.

So I had to be stealthy. I made sure he didn't hear me turn the camera on. I hid it behind my back until I got in the perfect position. And VOILA! I got him!!! Bahahaha!

For the record, we have yet to get him on the back of a REAL horse.
